South African International Model United Nations (SAIMUN) is an intensive three days simulation of the United Nations held annually, targeting not only students but also young civil society activist. After the South African BRICS Youth Association hosted a successful World Youth Summit in Johannesburg which focused on the Model United Nations, scores of young people that participated in the Summit, called for the annual conference on MUN in South Africa.
During the period of the conference, delegates engaged themselves in the dynamics of international relations by assuming the roles of world leaders and influential decision makers.
With the upcoming summit delegates will be able to develop leadership, research, writing, public speaking, negotiations, persuasive, as well as problem-solving skills.
We firmly believe that active participation encourages consensus-building through mediation and negotiation, conflict resolution and the ability to rapidly build cordial and long lasting relations among people of different cultures and ideologies. The inaugural SAIMUN will take place in September 2020, in South Africa.
